Blooming Relationships Mobile
This data visualization emphasizes that geographical distance and physical presence or absence no longer dictate a relationship's significance, relevance, or depth in today's interconnected world. This Time Capsule documents the interaction data of four relationships over a three-week period.
Using the metaphor of flowers, leaves, and stars, I visualized how relationships attract meaningful interactions and contribute to life's richness. This mobile serves as a representation of the way geographical distance and physical presence no longer limit a relationship's significance.

How To Read It

-
The sunflower's petals depict my weekly interactions with four individuals.
-
Shapes symbolize different relationships: leaves for family, petals for local friends, and stars for friends abroad in the EU.
-
Each hour of connection counts as one interaction.
-
Repetition of shapes shows weekly interactions, including some in-person meetings.
-
Proximity to the sunflower and shape size reflect geographical distance, except for leaves, which represent genetic proximity.
