Experiential Design Internship (Wayfinding) (ART 4496)

This internship introduced students to experiential design through the Troy University Arboretum Wayfinding Project. The course emphasized research, documentation, and applied design thinking to improve navigation, accessibility, and visual communication within a natural environment.
Projects included: Site Research & Mapping, Primary and secondary Research, User Interviews, Wayfinding Concept Development
Student Roles & Deliverables
Working collaboratively under faculty supervision, students conducted primary and secondary research, site analysis, wayfinding documentation, and ideation.. They contributed to print and digital assets—including maps and social media—and their work informed the foundation of the comprehensive Wayfinding Playbook, which compiles the research, documentation, and conceptual groundwork developed during the internship for the subsequent design and implementation phase.
