Boston Molasses Flood Illustrated Book + Data Viz

In 1915, the U.S. Industrial Alcohol Company (USIA) constructed a towering 58-foot molasses tank in Boston's North End. I transformed this historical incident into a captivating data visualization illustrated book, thoughtfully designed for young adults.

The project came to life through my intricate craft and design. Hand-drawn illustrations breathe life into the narrative, while meticulously crafted paper textures add tactile depth. Typography, inspired by USIA's era-specific posters and newspaper headlines, lends an authentic touch to the storytelling.
